Developmental Control
Subdivision
The Narromine Local Environmental Plan (LEP) sets the minimum sizes for allotments in the Narromine Shire. The Shire contains a series of 'zones' which outline objectives for preferred development and set minimum lot sizes.
| 1(a) (General Rural) |
|
|
1(c) (Rural Small Holdings) |
|
|
2(v) (Village or Urban) |
|
Other zones exist in the Narromine Shire, such as Forestry, Industrial, Special Use (Aerodrome), and Recreation Areas, however the remaining zones do not have minimum sizes for allotments.
If you wish to enquire further about subdividing in the Narromine Shire, please contact Council's Department of Planning, Community & Health.
Exempt Development
Certain types of development are considered minor and do not require formal development approval. These types of development are called 'exempt' and the criteria for such development is contained in Narromine Shire Council's Development Control Plan - Exempt Development.
For copies of the criteria for exempt developments, please click here or contact Council's Department of Planning, Community & Health.
Complying Development
Development that is complying must comply with certain criteria and requires approval through a complying development certificate. Although this type of development still requires approval, it is a simpler type of development and includes such things as dwelling extensions, awnings, Bed & Breakfast's, and machinery sheds to name a few.
For copies of the criteria for complying developments, please click here or contact Council's Department of Planning, Community & Health.
Outdoor Advertising Signs
Unless exempt from the need for approval under clause 26 of the Narromine Local Environmental Plan 1997, all outdoor advertising signs require development consent in the Narromine Shire. Clauses 27 and 28 of the Narromine LEP refer to advertisements which are permissible with consent and those which relate to tourist and related facilities.
Please contact Council's Town Planner if you wish to erect an advertising sign in the Shire.
Under the Narromine LEP 1997, a number of zones categorise land for the purpose of preferred developments in those areas. The zones listed under the Narromine LEP are:
- 1(a) (General Rural)
- 1(c) (Rural Small Holdings)
- 1(f) (Forestry)
- 2(v) (Village or Urban)
- 4 (Industrial)
- 5 (Special Use) (Aerodrome)
- 6 (Recreation Area)
Under each of these zones, a set of aims and objectives area are listed, as well as a list of developments which are prohibited. For example, in the 2(v) (Village or Urban) zone, offensive and hazardous industries are prohibited for obvious reasons.
For further information on zones, please contact Council's Town Planner.
