Tomingley
Established 2014
"Tomingley Gold Operations (TGO) is wholly owned by Alkane Resources, an ASX-listed company with a multi-commodity exploration and development portfolio. "
In 2001, Alkane discovered a significant gold deposit about 50km south-west of Dubbo, near the village of Tomingley by the Newell Highway. Construction of the TGO gold processing plant was completed in 2014.Until 2018, TGO produced 60,000 to 80,000 ounces of gold annually from four open-cut pits, which were progressively rehabilitated.
In 2019, Alkane reported the discovery of significant new gold prospects to the ASX, located within 8km of the TGO processing plant. Learn more about the extension of TGO here.
TGO won Mining Operation of the Year in the 2018 NSW Minerals Council Suppliers Awards. TGO strives to uphold stringent social and environmental standards
and supports education and training, economic development, infrastructure improvement and community spirit through the TGO Community Fund.
The biggest advantage of being based in Narromine Shire
Geological processes determine where gold-bearing ores are located. Many gold mines are situated in remote locations and fly-in-fly-out workforces are required to operate them. Serendipity and successful exploration by Alkane led to the $120M State Significant Development of the Tomingley Gold Mine in a highly convenient location near population centres and existing infrastructure. The mine was commissioned on time and budget largely through the skill and efficiency of local suppliers. A significant proportion of the construction workforce and a high proportion of the operational workforce – which peaked at 220 and continues at around 110 people – were locals.
What you love about having a business in Narromine Shire
Alkane has enjoyed positive relationships with the progressive Council and constructive community organisations. Through a Planning Agreement with the Council, Alkane has supported a variety of community projects (infrastructure and social). TGO’s financial and in-kind contributions have been greatly appreciated in the friendly villages and towns of Narromine Shire. We’re proud of our shared achievements and aim to continue to build the strength and resilience of this community for years to come.
