Playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment to re-open from Friday 15 May 2020

Playgrounds, outdoor gym equipment, skateparks and barbecue areas across the Narromine Region will reopen to the public from Friday 15 May 2020.

The Australian Government introduced a 3-step framework for a COVID safe Australia. Step 1 of the plan, is a small step to allow friends and families to connect and to allow groups of people to be together in homes and in the community.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “Reopening the playgrounds, gym equipment, skateparks and barbecue areas is a great start to the relaxation of restrictions”

“Prior to reopening the outdoor facilities, Council will be disinfecting and cleaning the equipment”

“As outlined in the 3-step framework, no more than 10 people can utilise the one facility at the same time. Unfortunately, this could mean, if there are already 10 children playing on the playground, you will need to wait until someone leaves” she said.

Although there are no cases of COVID-19 in our Region, residents are encouraged to take precaution on the equipment as COVID-19 is known for surviving on these surfaces for up to 72 hours.

Council recommends that residents maintain 1.5m social distancing and good hygiene as well as staying home if you are feeling unwell.
