Public Forum to be Held Prior to Council Meetings

From 1 July 2019, Public Forum will now be held commencing at 5pm prior to each Ordinary Council Meeting.

Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 12 June 2019 resolved that the existing Public Forum Policy be made obsolete from 1 July 2019.

Council’s Code of Meeting Practice was advertised as required under the Local Government Act however, no written submissions were received.

Community members will need to provide an application to Council by 12 pm on the day prior to the meeting if they wish to speak on an item. If no applications are received, Public Forum will not be held.

“Part of our Community Strategic Plan is to provide opportunities for community members to participate in Council’s decision-making processes” said Jane Redden, General Manager of Narromine Shire Council.

“Community members are still encouraged to speak however, speaking prior to a Council Meeting will allow for more time-efficient and effective Council meetings,” she said.

All changes comply with the Model Code of Meeting Practice 2019 to be enacted from 1 July 2019.

Council’s website has been updated with the information and relevant application form for speaking at Public Forum. For more information, visit https://www.narromine.nsw.gov.au/council/council-meetings.
