2020 NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards

Narromine Shire celebrated Australia Day with events being held in Narromine and Trangie.

Narromine’s celebrations commenced at 8am with a FREE community breakfast and entertainment from Sing Australia and local song writer Jock Webb. The morning also included a Citizenship Ceremony, NSW Local Citizen Awards, an address from Australia Day Spokesperson Roger Fletcher and a watermelon eating competition.

Trangie’s celebrations commenced at 6pm at the Trangie United Services Club and included a FREE BBQ and live music along with the NSW Local Citizen Awards and an address from Australia Day Spokesperson Jamie ‘Dodge’ Manning.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “The Narromine Australia Day Committee and Trangie Action Group have worked very hard to make the Australia Day celebrations a success”

Mayor of Narromine Shire, Cr Craig Davies said “it was great to see so many members of the community attend the Australia Day celebrations”

“Both Narromine and Trangie’s Australia Day speakers, Roger Fletcher and Jamie ‘Dodge’ Manning are valued members of their communities and it was great to hear their stories”

“Australia Day is such a special community day and an opportunity to showcase what’s greatabout our community.We all have different stories to share about this country and Australia Day is anopportunity to remember how fortunate we are to live, together, here in Australia” he said.

This year on Australia Day, we welcomed 5 people into the community with the following community members taking the pledge to become citizens at Sunday’s ceremony;
