Australia Day 2021- A COVID Safe Celebration
Narromine community members and residents will recognise Australia Day in both new and traditional forms in the Narromine Shire, with a number of virtual and physical civic events planned.
Current COVID event restrictions are forcing changes to the usual large-scale community activities that are held throughout the Shire.
The Council led Australia Day ceremony in Narromine will be held as an invitation only civic event that includes Australia Day Award recipients as well as a citizenship ceremony commencing at 8.30am in the Narromine Shire Council Chambers.
To ensure Narromine residents and community members can enjoy the official proceedings, the Narromine Australia Day event will be streamed live and shared on Narromine Shire Council’s Facebook page.
Whilst the Trangie Action Group (TAG) event will be held as a low-key award ceremony event commencing at 6.00 pm at the Trangie USMC.
Narromine Shire Council Mayor Clr Craig Davies encouraged community members to participate via the livestream option in Narromine.
‘It’s been such a challenging 12 months, together we have faced alterations to our lives as a result of the health pandemic, yet we have embraced new opportunities and overcome these substantial changes to remain in a healthy and safe community’, he said.
The Narromine Shire Council’s Australia Day Ambassador Isabella Bain will participate in both the Narromine Australia Day Civic Event and Trangie Action Group’s (TAG) evening ceremony.
