Council seeking community feedback on Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

Narromine Shire Council has engaged consultants to undertake a review of the Narromine Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan which was prepared for Narromine in 2009.

The purpose of the review is to assist Council in refining strategic plans for mitigating and managing the effects of existing flood risk, future flood risk and continuing flood risk.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager Jane Redden said “the review is jointly funded by Council and the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment”

“The review aims to build community resilience towards flooding through informing better planning of development, emergency management and community awareness”

“An important first step in the review process is to re-appraise what flood related issues are important to the community through a community questionnaire” she said.

The questionnaire has been provided to affected residents and businesses, along with listed online to assist the Consultants in gathering information. The questionnaire is available until Friday 15 May 2020.
