Council Secures Funding for the Upgrade of Tomingley Heavy Vehicle Rest Area

Narromine Shire Council is thrilled to announce its success in securing $1,233,600 from the Australian Government's Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications under the Heavy Vehicle Rest Area Ongoing Tranche 4 program.

This funding will facilitate the Upgrade of the Tomingley Heavy Vehicle Rest Area, enhancing safety, convenience and overall amenity for heavy vehicle operators and road users along the Newell Highway.

The project includes the construction of new toilet facilities, installation of kerb and guttering, pavement upgrades, resealing and line marking along with beautification of the site and improved safety for pedestrians.

Narromine Shire Council General Manager, Mrs Jane Redden welcomed the funding stating, "This significant investment will greatly enhance the Tomingley Heavy Vehicle Rest Area, ensuring it meets the needs of all drivers while improving safety and comfort. Council is grateful to the Australian Government for supporting regional infrastructure that benefits the Narromine Shire Local Government Area and all road users."
