Residents urged to be water conscious

With ongoing dry conditions, Narromine Shire residents are being urged to be water conscious and to be aware of the current restrictions in place.

Under current water restrictions, Narromine’s total water usage should be limited to 3ML per day, however residents in Narromine are currently using between 4 – 4.5ML of water per day.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Mrs Jane Redden said “Narromine Shire is in a fortunate position in regards to a secure town water supply, however now is not the time to be complacent as the extreme drought conditions continue”

“It has been identified that a large portion of our water usage can be contributed to watering gardens, evaporative air conditioners, up-keep of pools and leaking taps. Our data further shows that people are not adhering to permitted watering times.”

“To assist in reducing our water usage, Council has implemented a Water Management Plan for parks, gardens and green spaces outlining the irrigation schedule” she said.
